Several years ago I personally witnessed Nelson Mandela, standing in front of his former prison cell on Robben Island, addressing the world's press. His message was that the pandemic of HIV/AIDS in africa was in fact, a genocide. Since that time I resolved to do as much as I can to bring attention to the HIV/AIDS crisis.

The Wellington Appeal - The British Red Cross

Annie Lennox attended a HCA Gala event in London on 14th Jan 2010 where as an Ambassador for The British Red Cross (BRCS), she spoke about their work with HIV/AIDS and her personal commitment to the cause before presenting a short piece of film featuring Red Cross CEO Sir Nicholas Young giving an overview of  the BRCS's on going work with HIV/AIDS and highlighting some of the challenges the BRCS faces in South Africa. On the night a donation was made from the Wellington Appeal to the British Red Cross for £25,000. This was one of the first donations made by the Wellington appeal and Annie can be seen here holding the cheque.
